Something that bothers me, well, the RMS Carpathia was the only one who came to help them, unfortunately, late. But they did what they could to get there faster, sailing almost 58 miles from their current position to the Titanic.. Captain Arthur Rostron, a true hero
Maybe you know this or not, but....the Carpathia wasn't the only one nearby. There was another ship in less than 10 miles away: SS Californian, commanded by captain Stanley Lord. If they had taken part of the rescue, probably most of people aboard titanic could have been saved, but they didn't responded at Titanic lights. The SS Californian arrived almost 2 hours later after Carpathia. Captain Lord was a disgrace after the disaster. you better find it out by yourselves for more details.

Titanic is one of my favourite pieces of history (in fact anything related to the sea and ships attracts my attention .)
Just to precise some facts:
Though it is true third class passengers weren't allowed to get to the boats because they were on the first class deck it's been a wrong assumption that most of the victims were 3rd class passengers when in reality the crew was the group who lost more people that day.
It's true, from 706 passengers in 3rd class, 528 men, women and children died. It means moreless 75% of the 3rd class group didn't survived, but from 888 members of the Titanic's crew 690 perished, which means that around 78% of the staff members didn't make to see the morning of April 15th.
Another fact that most of the times goes unnoticed is that the lookouts in charge to spot icebergs in the Crown's Nest didn't have binoculars. The binoculars had been taken away from the Nest and placed in the safety box in the bridge, locked with a key... taht was in possession of an officer in ANOTHER ship.
Lookouts were working then with their naked eyes. Science seems to proof today that a mixture of cool and warm air and little light prevented them of seeing the iceberg until it was too late to avoid hitting the mass of ice.

THEY COULD HAVE SHARED IT I don't like James Cameron (lol at the fact you can feel James Cameron taking your money XD)...or Avatar..but I admit I do love this miovie. I find it in terrible taste to charge so much for the anniversary of those poor men, women and children's deaths though...I use to research the distaster when I was a kid. It was fascinating and terribly sad...especially the facts of the SS Californian... Sigh...
AND REALLY. There are REALLY people who believe Titanic is just a movie?! My god......That.....is so mind boggling sad I've no idea how to describe it correctly...
